9/8, reaching Goose Bay / Happy-to-be-done-with-gravel Valley

This day we encountered the worst road conditions of the entire trip, and the closer we got to Goose Bay the worse it got. From 60 miles or so out, there were areas of deep gravel, and in the last maybe 20 miles or so outside Goose Bay, fresh gravel was being dumped, huge chunks of it laid very deep, and the dreaded graders were out. Kristy had a very low-speed drop here, no damage, but she was very happy to see the Goose Bay city paving.

Pretty good condition:

BAD:

Welcome to Goose Bay!

No more gravel!

We don't know what it is, but it's over there...

The lovely Hotel North Two...

Goose Bay is another of these towns that looks on the map like it ought to be big, but actually it is tiny.

These are the only Harleys we saw in Labrador :lol3

In Goose Bay, we had our first cod tongues, which were also our last cod tongues. We also thought we were ordering a baked apple dessert, which turned out to actually be bakeapples on ice cream... little orange sweet berries that are mostly found in the Cartwright/Black Tickle area.
