The best side of Cape Breton is the western side

On 9/16, we left Meat Cove heading south, and finally found the roads and vistas we've read about in so many ride reports.

The Aspy fault line:

See where the road is cut into the mountainside? These mountains aren't terribly tall, but they're extremely steep.





We dropped back down to sea level:



We saw a couple of scarecrow farms, which are actually a little disturbing, as they are almost corpselike -- here's one of them



Today we had lunch at the Seafood Stop, and Kristy finally got to have fish cakes. The service here was excellent and he price reasonable.



We stopped in Antigonish late in the afternoon and opted to stay the night there rather than continue into the interior, where lodging might not be as available.
