in goose bay, three days later
We made it to Goose Bay around noon today. The first day, we made it to Labrador City and stayed the night. Kristy had a pretty good drop at speed about 50 miles outside Labrador City on some loose gravel the first day, and bent the right handlebar, broke a foglight lens, also broke a few things in her tankbag - the mini-laptop and a good pair of sunglasses - but no bodily.injury to speak of, luckily (the gear did its job, especially the helmet!). Kenny was able to bend the handlebar straight enough that we could continue. Kenny also had a drop today with less damage, just a foglight housing and a few scrapes. The second day we went about 100 miles past Churchill Falls and found a spot to camp overnight as the sun was setting. No bears ate us, although we did see a bear crossing the road one morning, and we saw what we think were grouse at the campsite. On the last day we made it to Goose Bay without major incident, although we have also found that Kristy's bike blew a fork seal. Our street tires held up surprisingly well to the 600 miles of dirt and gravel we just traversed. Kristy will be glad not to see another mile of gravel on this trip. Tomorrow we catch the ferry to Lewisporte. We will upload photos when we can, but with the mini laptop out of commission it may be awhile. At that time we'll talk less about travails and more about travels...
